Reference: Carpet Insert Mat Test Information
The carpeting material currently supplied in The Mat King Prestige Entrance Mats and Grates is a 100% Nylon that is fusion bonded to backing for durability. This carpeting has passed the flammability tests as required under FF-1-70 (Pill Test).
Another test that is sometimes mentioned is called the NFPA 253 or Standard Method of Test for Critical Radiant Flux of Floor Covering Systems using a Radiant Heat Energy Sources. It is also known as the ASTM E648. This particular test is used as a basis for estimating the fire performance of a floor covering installed in a corridor or building exit.
Prestige Entrance Mats and Grates are most often installed in entry ways. Floor coverings in open building spaces and in rooms within buildings merit no further regulation provided the floor covering is at least as resistant to flame spread as a material that will meet Federal Flammability Standard FF-1-70 (Pill Test). This information is according to the Life Safety Code Handbook by Ron Cote.

| Alkalies | Resistance of all Nylons is good. | |||
| Sunlight | Sunlight is distructive to Nylon fibers unless special finishes have been added. | |||
