A mesh underlay (3) insures that the matting does not subside into the soil. The soil itself (4) stays firm and undisturbed promoting healthy grass growth. Dundee Grass Retention & Erosion Control Matting requires little or no maintenance.

1. The installation of Dundee Grass Retention & Erosion Control Matting can be installed on an existing grass base or any prepared site with either turf or high quality grass seed.
       2. The site should then be covered with a mesh underlayment, which will provide a foundation to prevent the mats from becoming imbedded in the soil.
       3. The installation of Dundee Grass Retention & Erosion Control Matting features an easy-fitting interlocking system. Security spikes are to be placed around the perimeter using the recessed holes provided (approximately three per mat). The security spikes also affords added protection against vandalism.
       4. After a few weeks, the grass will permeate the matting system. Liberal and frequent watering is essential for optimum grass growth.
       5. Once grass is fully established, it can be mowed as required with most types of lawn mowers.

Unless there is a tremendous flow of water through the paddock from an uphill area, Dundee Grass Retention Matting will hold its ground allowing mud to remain mostly below the matting. Debris that falls on the matting can be hosed off from time-to-time. The amount of usage and how well the soil drains will determine how soon the matting holes will fill with soil and debris. When the matting holes do fill up, the matting can be easily disassembled, cleaned off and then reinstalled. The average time between clean outs is 2 years. Controlling mud and debris with Paddock Matting goes a long way to maintaining a safe an pleasant paddock.
